Mangahigh

Mangahigh

This is an excellent online maths practice site, with two main innovations: firstly its multiple choice practice questions adjust their difficulty based on your performance, so more able students get challenged and those struggling with a topic get to move on at their own pace. Secondly, it has a set of maths games that manage successfully to be both fun and very good learning resources.

The best part of all of this is that it has now become entirely and permanently free in the UK - there's no good reason not to sign your school up.

NRICH

NRICH

A collection of puzzles and activities, updated monthly, aimed at higher-attaining students. An active community provide solutions and additional, interesting ideas and concepts. More than 2,500 puzzles, on most topics on the syllabus, means a good chance of finding an appropriate extension or enrichment task.

RevisionBox

RevisionBox

A company recently established with the aim of creating comprehensive video revision courses for - eventually - every GCSE course, and perhaps A-level as well some day.

I've been working with RevisionBox to produce the mathematics content, and from what I can gather it is proving to be quite popular amongst the students who have used it.

If you do sign up for the course, or know anyone who uses it, any feedback would be gratefully received: I'd like to continue to work on this and improve it over the coming years.

Wolfram|Alpha

Wolfram|Alpha

Described by its creators as a 'computational knowledge engine', Wolfram|Alpha is a search engine which, instead of giving websites as results, gives empirical data. Searching for any date will give its history and position in the calendar, for instance; any country will yield population, geographical and economic data; and any equation will, amongst many other things, plot an appropriate graph.

Although Wolfram|Alpha is still in beta, and so may not always return values you had hoped for, it is a project of impressive scope and is already quite useful at giving comprehensive information quickly.
